Seoul's Five Ancient Palaces

发布日期 2024.09.30

The five ancient palaces of Seoul (Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Deoksugung, Changgyeonggung, and Gyeonghuigung) are Joseon Dynasty palaces that encapsulate Korean history and culture.

Each palace possesses its own unique charm. Gyeongbokgung was a royal palace (the residence of the monarch). Changdeokgung was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997 for its outstanding architectural beauty. Deoksugung perfectly blends traditional Korean architecture with Western styles. Changgyeonggung was severely damaged during the Japanese colonial period but was later restored to its former glory. Gyeonghuigung exudes a simple and elegant atmosphere.
